About

Alpha Phi Omega is a national gender inclusive service organization founded on the principles of Leadership, Friendship and Service. It provides its members the opportunity to develop leadership skills as they volunteer on their campus, in their community, to the nation, and to the organization. With more than 400,000 members on over 375 campuses, Alpha Phi Omega continues to provide more service on more campuses than any other collegiate service organization.
 

Sigma Chapter at Northwestern

Northwestern’s Sigma Chapter is committed to improving our campus, our community, our fraternity and our nation through service.

Our meetings take place on Sundays at 4:00pm (approximately 1 hour) in Annenberg G15.

WHAT WE DO

SERVICE

Ongoing/previous service events include:

  • Merit Badge

  • Campus Kitchens

  • Readability at Evanston Library

  • Books and Breakfast

  • Chellah for Hunger at Hillel

  • Wagner Farm

  • Center for Independent Futures

  • NU Blood Drive

FELLOWSHIP

Some of our favorite fellowship events:

  • Formal

  • Fall Retreat

  • Sporting Events

  • Campfires at Lakefill

  • Painting the Rock

  • Boba with Bros

  • Study Hall

  • Movie Nights

  • Pay $30 in dues by the 4th Sunday of the quarter

    • Cash, check, or venmo (@northwestern-apo).

    • Financial Aid is always available!

 

  • (at least) 8 Service Hours

    • Must be from ¾ areas of service: fraternity, campus, community, nation.

    • Can count up to 4 outside hours towards requirements and unlimited towards house points.

  • (at least) 3 Fellowship Events

    • Need 5 people if announced less than 24 hours in advanced.  Need 3 people if announced more than 24 hours in advanced.

    • Must announce at least 1 hour in advance unless post-chapter or post-service.

    • No alcohol, tobacco, or other drugs.

  • (at least) 1 Leadership Point

    • Being on exec, having chair position, being on committee, planning service or fellowship event, attending LEADS Day course, watching online webinar, etc.

  • (at least) 1 Family Event

    • Can be planned by anyone for a leadership point and counts as fellowship for all who attend.

  • (at least) 1 House Event

    • At least one must be planned by House Head.  Counts as a fellowship for all who attend.

    • More can be planned by other house members.  Counts as a fellowship for all who attend.
